PORT OF ROTTERDAM

The Port of Rotterdam (PoR) manages the harbour area and the industrial zone of the port of Rotterdam. The PoR is responsible for both the strategic development and the operational management of the area and the transportation in the area. The organisation has more than 1150 employees.

Since 1998 ATLIS has been an important partner of the Port of Rotterdam for the development and realisation of their main (geo)graphical and administrative information system.

Since 1999 the information system has had a key role in:
a) administration of geographical information, and
b) integrating several Oracle administrative systems by means of object-related spatial information.

With the ENCRIBS project ATLIS makes it possible to import S-57 data from ENC-cells in an Oracle Spatial database (SIS) and to produce new ENC-cells based on the actual spatial and administrative data present in the Oracle Spatial database. The Port of Rotterdam uses this interface to store and maintain centralised nautical, bathymetric and topographic S-57 data. This S57-data is used to produce ENCs for internal, and in the future external, use. In addition the data will be made available company-wide.
